(July 20, 2011) – Tonight, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is resurfacing the southbound lanes of MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) from Hanover Road to MD 100.  Work will take place Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and will consist of patching, milling, resurfacing and re-striping.

SHA will implement a single lane closure through the work zone.  Motorists will be guided through the work zone by signs, cones and barrels.  On average, more than 90,000 vehicles travel along the MD 295 near MD 100 each day.

The 1.5 mile project should be completed by late-summer, weather permitting.  This project is funded under President Barack Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and is part of a multi-location “areawide” resurfacing contract for northern Anne Arundel County.  SHA awarded the $4.8 million contract to American Infrastructure of Fallston.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert - look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don't follow too closely.  Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones.  For everyone.
