(June 22, 2011) Starting this week, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is resurfacing a section of MD 213 (Church Hill Road) between Clannihan Shop Road and north of Hatchett Road in Centreville, Queen Anne’s County.

SHA will close one lane between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and a flagging operation will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone. Weather permitting work will be complete within two weeks.

The $300,000 work is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. SHA awarded the contract to David A. Bramble, Inc. of Chestertown. This project is part of a multi-location "areawide" resurfacing contract for Queen Anne’s County.

Construction season is here with numerous active work zone sites that include major construction projects taking months to complete and mobile operations taking only minutes. While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert - look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone.
