​Motorists Should Expect Daytime Work with Alternating Lane Closures Eastbound  I-68 between MD 936 to MD 55 Near Clarysville 

(August 1, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a safety and resurfacing project on I-68 (National Freeway) between MD 55 to MD 936 ​near Frostburg on Monday, August 5. The project will begin in the eastbound direction of I-68. The entire project will be completed by June 2025, weather permitting.  

Crews will work Monday – Friday from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. Drivers can expect alternating lane closures on eastbound I-68. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Keystone Lime, Co., Inc of Springs, PA, will use electronic message boards, detour signs, barrels, and cones to guide motorists safely through the work zone. Drivers should plan additional driving time during the pavement improvement project.

The State Highway Administration appreciates motorists’ patience as we complete this necessary inspection and maintenance work. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
