Nighttime Work Will Require Alternating Lane Closures

(July 3, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin to perform final work on eastbound I-70 at the MD 65 interchange beginning Monday, July 8. The work will continue through the end of July, weather permitting.

Drivers can expect occasional altering single-lane closures on I-70 at night 8 p.m.- 5 a.m. Sundays – Thursdays.  Drivers should plan extra nighttime driving time. This is the final work needed for the recent bridge replacement at  I-70 eastbound MD 65.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Concrete General, Inc of Gaithersburg, MD, will use variable message signs, cones, drums, and temporary traffic signs to guide motorists through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews, as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
