Motorists Can Expect Single-Lane Closures and a Temporary Ramp Closure on Monday, July 8
(July 3, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a pavement improvement project on US 219 (Chestnut Ridge Road) at eastbound I-68 (National Freeway) exit 22 on July 8. The pavement improvement project should be complete by 8 p.m. on July 8 (one day project), weather permitting.
Drivers can expect single-lane closures on US 219 and a partial closure and detour of the I-68/US 219 interchange at exit 22. Crews will work Monday through Friday 6 a.m.-8 p.m. During the partial interchange closure, motorists can access eastbound I-68 from Chestnut Ridge Road by taking westbound I-68 to exit 19 MD 495 (Bittinger Road) and a left off the exit back to eastbound I-68.
Motorists can access US 219 by continuing I-68 eastbound to I-68 Exit 24 then take I-68 westbound to Exit 22. Local traffic on Chestnut Ridge Road will be maintained with a flagging operation.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Keystone Lime, Inc, of Springs, Pa. will use electronic message boards, detour signs, barrels, and cones to guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration appreciates motorists’ patience as we complete this necessary inspection and maintenance work. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
