Project Beginning This Week in Temple Hills Area

(June 12, 2024) – The Maryland State Highway Administration is beginning maintenance and rehabilitation work this week on the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) interchange over MD 5 (Branch Avenue) in the Temple Hills area of Prince George’s County. The project includes upgrades on the bridge substructure and beam plating at MD 5, as well as repair of the bridge deck joints on I-95. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed next year.

Work will be completed in four phases. Throughout construction, temporary single- and double-lane closures will be in effect, along with ramp detours, during off-peak nights and weekends.

Electronic message boards, signs and arrow boards will be in place ahead of all detours and lane closures to direct motorists through the work zone. Contractor Marksmen Company, of Baltimore, will perform the work.

Customers with questions may contact the State Highway Administration’s District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
