Expect Left-Lane Closures on Tuesday, May 7th between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

(May 3, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project next week to perform traffic signal improvement work at the US 40 (Dual Highway)/Edgewood Drive intersection in Hagerstown on May 7. The work should be complete by 5 a.m. May 8, weather permitting.

The project will include removing the old cameras to allow for the installation of the new traffic signal detection cameras at the intersection. These detection cameras help to enhance the operation and efficiency of the traffic signal at the intersection.

Crews will work overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and drivers can expect left lane closures on US 40 and Edgewood Drive. Nighttime commuters should leave extra travel time during the project.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Traffic Signal, Inc., will use signs, flaggers and barrels to guide motorists safely through the work zone. Motorists are asked to slow down, stay alert and allow additional time for your commute.  If possible, consider an alternative route for that night.
