Work, including Inspection will Require Overnight Lane Closures
(December 9, 2021) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will assist the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) with bridge work on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) over MD 214 (Central Avenue) in Prince George's County starting next week.
The overnight work will be conducted 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, from Sunday, December 12, through Thursday, December 16. During those times, MDOT SHA crews will implement double lane closures on I-95/I-495 between Arden Drive and MD 214 so that WMATA crews can safely perform the work and inspection.
The WMATA work will require lane closures on I-95/I-495 Southbound on December 12 and December 13, and on I-95/I-495 Northbound on December 14 and December 15.
This work will not impact MDOT SHA’s nearby project to replace the I-95/I-495 bridges over MD 214 in Prince George’s County. Learn more about that project HERE.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
