Single and Double Lane Closures on I-695 Inner Loop in Effect Now Until 5 P.M.; Drivers Advised to Plan for Extra Travel Time, Take Alternate Routes

(November 1, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is performing emergency pavement repairs today that will require two left lane closures on eastbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Inner Loop) between west of I-83 South (Jones Falls Expressway) and I-83 North (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway).

MDOT SHA maintenance crews are working along this segment of I-695 Inner Loop now until 5 p.m. to patch and repair a section of failing pavement on the left side of I-695 Inner Loop east of the I-695 bridge over Joppa Road. Previously scheduled paving work on I-695 will resume at 7 p.m. tonight and continue until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Pavement milling and patching on I-695 Inner Loop and Outer Loop between the I-83 interchanges will continue through late November and will require temporary overnight single- and double-lane closures along the Inner and Outer loops Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Gray & Son Inc. of Timonium, will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
