STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO REPLACE MD 303 BRIDGE OVER TUCKAHOE CREEK SOUTH OF HILLSBORO IN TALBOT COUNTY

Traffic to be Detoured Beginning Monday, June 16th through end of Summer          
          
(June 11, 2008) – Beginning next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $950,000 project to replace the MD 303 (Lewistown Road) Bridge over Tuckahoe Creek south of Hillsboro in Talbot County.           
          
On Monday, June 16, MD 303 will be closed between Old Queen Anne Road and Tappers Corner Road through early to mid-September, weather permitting. The existing bridge, built in 1913, is structurally sound; however the bridge is approaching the end of its usable life and will be replaced. 
          
Traffic along northbound MD 303 will be detoured to a left onto Tappers Corner Road to a left onto Dukes Bridge Road to a right onto MD 309 (Cordova Road) to a right onto Old Queen Anne Road and back to MD 303.          
          
Motorists exiting MD 404 and traveling along southbound MD 303 will be detoured to a right at Old Queen Anne Road to a left onto MD 309 (Cordova Road) to a left onto Dukes Bridge Road to a right onto Tappers Corner Road, which connects back with MD 303. All detour routes will be clearly signed.          
          
SHA awarded the contract to George and Lynch, Inc. of Dover, Delaware. SHA encourages motorists to stay alert in work zones and slow down.
