Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Meeting to Gather Feedback from Local Users; Public Involvement and Attendance is Strongly Encouraged
Who: State Highway Administration (SHA) representatives
Area residents, community organizations, businesses
What: SHA will host a public involvement meeting for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) meeting in Charles County. This is one of several public meetings SHA is holding throughout the State to gather input on challenges to accessibility along state roadways. The meeting will provide an opportunity to share comments and help prioritize future ADA projects.
Beginning at 6 p.m., SHA representatives will give a brief overview of its program. Displays will be available, explaining individual ADA element compliance on sidewalks. Representatives from SHA will be available to discuss ADA compliance issues and answer questions.
When: Wednesday, February 4, 2009 between 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Where: Theodore Davis Middle School - Cafeteria
2495 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603
Why: SHA is conducting a self-evaluation to identify features in the State’s public right-of-way that do not meet current guidelines. By using state-of-the-art technology to catalog locations and conditions of sidewalks, this information along with public input, will be used to prioritize sidewalks for reconstruction. Attendees who may need special accommodation needs, are encouraged to provide comments about issues and concerns regarding sidewalks and pedestrian access along state routes.
