(February 27, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will permanently close the northern end of MD 765/Main Street at Central Square Drive in Prince Frederick next week. The closure is part of the $47.1 million MD 2/4 (Solomons Island Road) widening project.

On Monday, March 2, crews will begin removing the existing asphalt at the intersection near the Central Square Shopping Center. Motorists on northbound MD 765/Main Street will have the option to use Commerce Lane to reach MD 2/4.

Portable variable message signs will advise area travelers about the new traffic pattern. Crews recently improved lane markings along northbound and southbound MD 2/4. To learn more about the full project, please click here.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for motorists, as well as our crews. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits and other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
