Due to damage from recent heavy rains, the right lane of the approach roadway along southbound US 301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) near the bridge over the Sassafras River (Kent/Cecil County line) will be closed.  The bridge is safe, as well as the roadway, but the repairs are necessary.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) is closing the right lane along southbound US 301 approaching the bridge and crews will begin to backfill the damaged area this evening.  SHA will use barrels to maintain the left southbound lane during construction.

Weather permitting; all lanes should be open by Thursday morning rush hour, October 7.

SHA would like to remind motorists to "Think Orange" and slow down in the construction zone.​
