Bridge Will Be Closed Through Friday; Motorists Will Be Detoured Around the Work Zone
(October 28, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close the Cambridge Creek Drawbridge on MD 795 (Maryland Avenue) in Cambridge, Dorchester County, starting Monday, November 3, for concrete repairs. The closure will not impact marine and pedestrian traffic. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, November 7, weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, crews will close the bridge. State Highway Administration contractor, PDI Sheetz Construction Corp. of Linthicum, will use reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs and variable message sign boards to detour traffic around the project limits.
Motorists traveling west on Maryland Avenue will turn left onto Dorchester Avenue, right onto Cedar Street, right onto Academy Avenue, and back to Maryland Avenue.
Motorists traveling east on Maryland Avenue will turn right onto Academy Avenue, left onto Cedar Street, left on Dorchester Avenue and proceed to Maryland Avenue.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
