Drivers Can Expect Nightly Ramp Closures and Detours Through July
(July 3, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close and detour two ramps on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Prince George’s County as part of a ramp resurfacing project beginning July 6. Work will take place overnight Sundays through Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. All work is expected to be complete by the end of July, weather permitting.
The paving project will require ramp closures and detours at the following ramps on I-95/I-495:
- Southbound MD 202 ramp to northbound I-95/I-495: Drivers will continue onto MD 202 (Landover Road) southbound, make a right turn onto MD 214 (Central Avenue), followed by another right-hand turn onto the on-ramp to I-95/I-495 northbound.
- Southbound I-95/I-495 ramp to southbound MD 202: Drivers will continue onto I-95/I-495 southbound and take exit 15B onto westbound MD 214 (Central Avenue). Drivers will then take the right-hand on-ramp to northbound MD 202 (Landover Road).
Electronic message signs will be installed prior to construction to advise motorists of road conditions ahead. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allan Meyers of Fallston, will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels, and cones to safely guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the projects.
Customers with questions may contact the State Highway Administration District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.
