Traffic, Safety Upgrades Coming to Forest Heights
(June 4, 2025) – The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a project on MD 210 (Indian Head Highway) from Seneca Drive to the D.C. line in Forest Heights. Weather permitting, the project will be complete in winter 2025.
The $1.94 million project includes:
- milling and paving,
- curb and gutter repair,
- cleaning existing pipes and inlets,
- replacing existing traffic barrier and end treatments and
- installing pavement markings.
The project also includes sidewalk repairs and extensions, and bus stop repairs.
Contractor Francis O. Day Company, Inc., of Rockville, will perform work weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and weeknights, Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Single and double-lane closures will be in effect. Additional work hours may be necessary to maintain the project schedule.
Thanks to additional transportation resources provided in Governor Moore's Fiscal Year 2026 budget, the Maryland Department of Transportation is investing in projects that will improve the safety and reliability of our network, spur economic growth and ensure our transportation system is in a state of good repair. This additional funding will enable the State Highway Administration to restore critical system preservation funding dedicated to the resurfacing and rehabilitation of state highways.
This safety and resurfacing project reinforces the Department’s Serious About Safety initiative – an enhanced, department-wide initiative to drive safety goals and save lives. Components also follow the department’s Complete Streets policy ensuring state roadways are convenient, reliable and accessible for all users.
Customers who have questions may contact the State Highway Administration District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
