Drivers Can Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures
(May 2, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin several resurfacing projects in Washington County beginning Monday, May 5. All projects are weather permitting.
The projects include grinding, patching and resurfacing. The projects are as follows:
Washington County
- MD 144 from Tollgate Rd to I-70 – A cold in place recycling resurfacing project will begin on May 5 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Drivers can expect single-lane closures with a flagging operation in place to guide motorists through the work zone. The Maryland State Highway Administration contractor for this project is C. William Hetzer, Inc, Hagerstown.
- MD 491 from MD 64 to Werner Hollow Rd. The project begins on May 7. Drivers can expect single-lane closures Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. A flagging operation will guide motorists through the work zone. Maryland State Highway Administration contractor for this project is FO Day, Inc of Rockville.
- MD 68 from US 40 to Walnut Point Rd –The project begins on May 8. Drivers can expect single-lane closures Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. A flagging operation will guide motorists through the work zone. The Maryland State Highway Administration contractor for this project is C. William Hetzer, Inc, Hagerstown.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
