Closure with Detour of MD 935 Required at MD 36 Intersection in Lonaconing
(March 27, 2025) – The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a slope stabilization project on MD 935 near Lonaconing on Monday, March 31. This project, which will require a road closure with a detour on MD 935 (Lower Georges Creek Road) at the MD 36 (New Georges Creek Road) intersection, is expected to be completed by early June, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect a detour each day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The State Highway Administration’s construction partner, First Fruits of Ridgeley, WV., will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to notify motorists about the work zone, road closure and detour.
Signs will guide motorists from MD 935 to MD 935A (near Skyline Drive NW) and back onto MD 935. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, slow down and focus on driving safely through the work zone. Times for the detours are subject to change.
