Three Week Closure with Detours; Motorists Advised to Plan Ahead

(October 17, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the I-95/495 South exit ramp at the Washington Metro Park & Ride/Weigh Station in College Park to address a damaged storm drain at Paint Branch. Beginning the week of Sunday, October 20, crews will close the ramp for three weeks. The work will be complete in early November, weather permitting.

Motorists leaving the weigh station will be detoured to I-95 north and take the MD 212 exit to continue traveling southbound. Motorists traveling along I-95 southbound can follow the route as directed by the existing signage.
Electronic message boards are currently in place to alert drivers of the upcoming ramp closure and detour. The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork can be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable highway network. Motorists are asked to slow down, be patient, allow extra travel time, stay alert and move over when approaching a work zone.

Customers who have questions may contact the District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
