Expect Closure, Detour of Eastbound and Westbound MD 122 (Security Blvd.) Ramps to Southbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) Sunday and Monday Nights
(September 20, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the interchange ramps from eastbound and westbound MD 122 (Security Boulevard) to southbound (outer loop) I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) overnight from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. on Sunday night, September 22 and Monday night, September 23. The closure and detours will end 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 24, weather permitting.
During the nightly ramp closure, a marked detour will direct motorists to take MD 122 to the inner loop (northbound) of I-695 to the MD 26 (Liberty Road) interchange, and through the interchange to access the outer loop (southbound) Baltimore Beltway back to Security Boulevard).
The work is part of the State Highway Administration’s I-695 Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) project to improve reliability and reduce congestion along I-695 between I-70 and MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard). For more information on the project, go to the I-695 TSMO Project Portal.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor is Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg, MD. In case of inclement weather during the week of September 22, the overnight ramp closure will take place on the next possible weeknight(s) Sunday through Thursday beginning September 29.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
