Overnight Lane Closures on Eastbound Timonium Road between I-83 and Greenspring Drive Begin Wednesday, May 29
(May 23, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project Wednesday, May 29, to improve capacity and traffic flow on Timonium Road at the I-83 (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) interchange. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed this summer.
Starting Wednesday, lane closures will be in effect overnight only, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Work times may be adjusted pending the project schedule. Ramps at the interchange will remain open.
The $380,000 project will create an additional right-turn movement from eastbound Timonium Road to Greenspring Drive. The size of the existing concrete traffic island at the intersection of eastbound Timonium Road and Greenspring Drive will be reduced, and crews will perform minor resurfacing and remarking of the pavement.
This work is part of the State Highway Administration’s highway safety and spot improvement program. Contractor Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, will perform the work.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
