Motorists Should Expect Single-Lane Closures
(March 19, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration continues its pavement patching project on MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) between MD 175 and MD 198 (Laurel Fort Meade Road) near Fort Meade. This roadwork will be complete this month, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect single lane closures between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on westbound MD 32 each weekday. Next week, crews will shift to the eastbound MD 32 lanes in this section; drivers should prepare for daytime single lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor Ardent Company, LLC of McClean, VA will use portable variable message signs, temporary traffic signs, cones, and barrels to safely guide drivers through the work zone. Drivers should plan for additional travel time as SHA continues areawide highway maintenance in the MD 198 and MD 32 corridors.
The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways. Customers may call the District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603 for additional information.
