Drivers Can Expect Single-Lane Closures During the Project
(October 26, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will resurface nearly five miles of US 301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) between the bridge over the Sassafras River to south of MD 313 (Galena Road) in northeastern Kent County beginning Monday, October 30. The project should be complete by early December, weather permitting.
Work includes milling, patching, paving, striping, and installation of new reflective pavement markers. Motorists can expect single-lane closures Mondays through Fridays 7 a.m.-5 p.m. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, David A. Bramble, Inc. of Chestertown, will use arrow boards, cones, and barrels to guide motorists safely through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience for some motorists but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes and slow down in work zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
