Southbound Wharf Road under MD 151 to Reopen to Traffic; Northbound Wharf Road Under MD 151 Will Remain Closed through Spring
(September 25, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will change traffic patterns at the
MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) / Wharf Road (MD 151B) interchange beginning Tuesday morning, September 26. This work had been previously delayed due to weather and will now begin at 9 a.m. on September 28.
After 9 a.m. Tuesday, the State Highway Administration will reopen the section of southbound Wharf Road between the left ramp to southbound MD 151 and south of the MD 151 bridge over Wharf Road. The left-turn ramp from southbound MD 151 to Wharf Road will be permanently closed. All motorists on southbound MD 151 will now turn right to reach southbound and northbound Wharf Road.

Northbound Wharf Road between MD 151 and the ramp from southbound Wharf Road to MD 151 will remain closed until spring 2024.
This traffic shift is another phase of this project to reconstruct three bridges at the MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) and MD 151B (Wharf Rd.) interchange. Weather permitting, the project will be complete spring 2024. Learn more about the interchange project
