Motorists Advised to Plan Ahead for Overnight Bridge Closure and Detour Scheduled from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday
(September 12, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the MD 161 (Darlington Road) bridge over Deer Creek in Harford County overnight on Thursday, September 14.
From 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, crews will pour and cure concrete on the new bridge deck as part of the State Highway Administration’s $2.7 million project to rehabilitate and enhance safety on the bridge. During the overnight bridge closure, motorists traveling on MD 161 between US 1 (Conowingo Road) and MD 155 (Level Road) may use US 1, MD 136 (Priestford Road) and MD 155 as a detour. In case of inclement weather, the bridge work and detour will take place on Monday, September 18, or a later date.
Brawner Builders Inc., of Hunt Valley is performing the bridge work. Learn more about the project here. The State Highway Administration is aware that roadwork is inconvenient but is necessary to maintain a world-class highway system.
Customers who have questions about this work may contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.
