Motorists Should Plan for Temporary Detours at I-695 Interchange Ramps in Overlea and Towson
(August 25, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will be performing overhead lighting maintenance at two interchange ramps on
I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Baltimore County next week, beginning Sunday, August 27. The work will be complete Friday morning, September 1, weather permitting.
Beginning Sunday at 10 p.m., motorists can expect temporary overnight ramp closures and traffic pattern shifts at any time 10 p.m.-5 a.m. the next morning Sunday – Thursday, August 27-31 at these locations:
Detour: Motorists will be directed to proceed on southbound US 1 past the interchange to westbound Taylor Avenue to northbound MD 147 (Harford Road) to eastbound I-695.
Detour: Motorists will be directed to go past the MD 45 exit to MD 139 (Charles Street). At the end of ramp, drivers will be directed to a left turn onto Bellona Avenue to southbound MD 139 and then turn left from southbound Charles Street onto the inner loop (eastbound) I-695 to proceed back to MD 45.
The State Highway Administration understands temporary lane and ramp closures can be an inconvenience, but this work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system. Motorists are asked to reduce speeds approaching and while in active work zones.
