Drivers Should Expect a Complete Ramp Closure and Detour on Two Weekends
(August 23, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to repair a concrete Interchange ramp at eastbound MD 140 (College View Boulevard) to MD 97 (Littlestown Pike) in Westminster on Friday, August 25.
Crews will close and work on the ramp for two weekends, August 25-28 and September 8-11 (due to the Labor Day Holiday), weather permitting.
On Friday, August 25 and Friday, September 8, crews will close the ramp at 9 p.m. and reopen it by 5 a.m. that Monday. During the ramp closure, crews will patch and pour new concrete. Drivers will be directed by detour signs to proceed on MD 140 eastbound to MD 27 (Manchester Road) back to MD 140 westbound ramp to MD 97.
After pouring the concrete, it will take time for it to come up to the necessary strength. Contractor MIM Construction of Mount Airy, will use VMS boards, signs, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration understands ramp closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
