Night Project will Repair Roadway and Install a New Roadway Surface on Three-Quarters of a Mile of MD 108

(August 17, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to improve pavement on MD 108 (Clarksville Pike) between MD 32 and Sheppard Lane, a span of three-quarters of a mile, in Columbia, Howard County.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, the project includes milling, patching, paving, and restriping the main lanes and shoulders of MD 108. During work hours, drivers should expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation.

The schedule is nights Sunday through Friday, 8 p.m to 5 a.m. The project is expected to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Contractor Allan Myers MD Inc., of Fallston, will use signs, barrels, cones, flaggers and arrow boards to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Motorcyclists should use extra caution for uneven pavement during the resurfacing project.

The State Highway Administration understands lane closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system.  Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
