US 40 sign
Project will Repair, Resurface Roadway Along Nearly One Mile of US 40
(June 9, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project next week to improve the driving surface on nearly one mile of US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) between I-70 and Marriottsville Road near Ellicott City.
Starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, crews will close part of the ramp from I-70 to US 40 to begin the work. Drivers can expect periodic lane closures Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. The project should be complete by early July, weather permitting.
Contractor Allan Myers Inc., based in Jessup, will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about lane closures and guide them through the work zone and detour. The State Highway Administration understands roadwork and lane closures can be an inconvenience, but this work is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system.
Warm weather is here, and many people are out walking, biking and riding on motorcycles. All motorists are urged to obey all the rules of the road, stay alert and be courteous. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
