Work Requires a Two-Week Closure During Daytime Hours to Install New Utility Manholes
(March 2, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will assist Carroll County with a weekday road closure on MD 851 (Main Street) between Sandosky Road and the railroad tracks south of Baldwin Drive in Sykesville beginning Monday, March 6. The road closure is in coordination with Carroll County’s Department of Public Works Bureau of Utilities, and is necessary to allow crews to safely install three new manholes on Main Street.
The road closure will occur 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. During the closures, motorists will be directed to Sandosky Road to College Avenue to MD 32 (Sykesville Road) and back to MD 851. The work is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration understands the closures will inconvenience some travelers, and asks motorists to stay alert and be patient as they pass through the work zone.
