Work Requires One-Night Closure of Southbound MD 75 Sunday into Monday
(January 12, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will make roadway repairs overnight this Sunday, January 15, on southbound MD 75 (Green Valley Road) just prior to the bridge over I-70 in New Market. Crews will repair depressions and repave the roadway surface. The work will require a temporary closure of southbound MD 75 overnight.
Starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, crews will close the southbound lane of MD 75. Once the depressions are repaired, crews will apply a new layer of asphalt to the roadway. The work is expected to be finished by 6 a.m. Monday, January 16, weather permitting.
Segment of MD 75 (Green Valley Road)
Motorists using southbound MD 75 will be detoured prior to the bridge onto westbound I-70, then to MD 144 (Old National Pike) to access eastbound I-70 and back to MD 75.
Crews from the MDOT SHA Frederick Shop will perform the work, and will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the closure and guide them through the detour. Motorists are urged to stay alert and use caution.
Maryland’s Move Over Law requires motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
