Work in Washington County Will Allow Removal of Debris Buildup Below
(January 6, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the MD 68 (Clear Spring Road) bridge over the Conococheague Creek in Williamsport on Saturday, January 28 through Sunday, January 29 to allow crews to remove debris from under the bridge.
Crews will work 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. A detour will be in place on MD 68 at US 11 and Cedar Ridge Road. Motorists will be detoured from US 11 North to MD 63 North, then to US 40 West to Cedar Ridge Road to MD 68. The detour for MD 68 East will be from MD 63 South to US 11 South.
MDOT SHA contractor Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, will use portable signs, barrels and cones to safely guide motorists through the detour. Motorists should plan for extra commuting time during this closure.
Maryland’s Move Over Law requires motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
