Motorists Should Expect an Overnight Lane Closure on September 8 to Prepare for Ramp Reopening
(September 7, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will reopen the eastbound I-70 ramp to northbound MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) (Exit 29B) in Washington County on Friday, September 9. The ramp has been closed since May 10 as work progressed on the project to replace the two I-70 bridges over MD 65 and the two I-70 bridges over the CSX Railroad near the Hagerstown Premium Outlets.
To prepare for the ramp re-opening, crews will close a single right lane on eastbound I-70 beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, to return the previously closed ramp to its normal configuration. The lane and ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, September 9.
MDOT SHA contractor Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, will use construction signs, barrels and cones to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should plan extra commuting time. Additional information about the project is available here.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
