Motorists Should Expect Overnight Closures of Merge Lane, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
(April 8, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform overnight bridge repairs to the piers of the MD 201 bridge at US 50 near Cheverly in Prince George’s County beginning this Sunday, April 10. The project will be completed in two phases, and has an overall cost of $750,000. The full project is expected to complete by late July, weather permitting.
Starting Sunday, crews will launch the first phase of the bridge repairs, and will work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. The first phase is expected to take about 45 days. During work hours, the westbound right merge lane onto US 50 beneath the MD 201 bridge and just past MD 459 will be closed to traffic.
Phase two will follow, and will involve closure of the right merge lane on eastbound US 50 beneath the MD 201 bridge. Crews will close the lane overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday evenings through Friday mornings.
