Project in Final Phase; Ramp from Hollins Ferry Road to Northbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Inner Loop) to Close Sunday, March 20, Through Late June
(March 16, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin work Sunday, March 20, on the third and final stage of its rehabilitation project on the bridge carrying CSX Transportation freight rail line over I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) north of the Hollins Ferry Road interchange in Baltimore County. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by late June.
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, crews will close the ramp from Hollins Ferry Road to northbound I-695 to allow work to proceed safely. During the work schedule through June, motorists will use a ramp detour route via Hammonds Ferry Road, Nursery Road and Fairview Avenue to access the Fairview Avenue ramp to I-695 North (see attached map).

In summer 2020, MDOT SHA completed the first two stages of the rehabilitation project, which involved work on the abutment along southbound I-695 (Outer Loop) and the center piers between the Inner and Outer loops. The third stage was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now being resumed.
The Marksmen Company Inc., of Baltimore, is the MDOT SHA contractor for the job and will perform the bridge rehabilitation work. Learn more about the project here.
