New Sponsorship Celebrates 35 Years of MDOT SHA Emergency Patrol Service to Maryland Motorists
WHAT: The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will announce a new partnership with GEICO to sponsor the MDOT SHA Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) Emergency Patrol program. MDOT SHA’s CHART Emergency Patrol, sponsored by GEICO, actively patrols to help stranded motorists in the Baltimore, National Capital, Eastern and Western regions. The support from GEICO comes at a time when winter weather has continued to place an increased demand on Emergency Patrol services needed to keep roadways clear and safe during winter storms.
Video opportunity: Access to new MDOT SHA’s CHART Emergency Patrol vehicles, newly-branded with GEICO representation and reflective safety striping, flashing lights and arrow boards.
WHEN: Tuesday, February 15, 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: CHART Statewide Operations Center – Building 4
7491 Connelley Dr., Hanover, MD 21076
WHY: GEICO sponsorship will allow MDOT SHA to augment Emergency Patrol routes and services; ultimately providing help to motorists in need and improving mobility on the state’s high-traffic volume corridors. The Emergency Patrol responds to more than 60,000 incidents every year, and the incidents are cleared within twenty-four minutes. Calls for service usually increase during hazardous weather events and peak travel holidays.
