Project Enhances Pedestrian Access, Safety along MD 291/MD 313
(November 30, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has completed final work on the two-year project to upgrade the roadway, sidewalks and drainage on MD 291 and MD 313 in the Kent County town of Millington.
The project results in a new driving surface on MD 291 (Cypress Street) and MD 313 (Sassafras Street), in addition to new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks and crosswalks throughout the downtown area. The $6.2 million project also included substantial drainage infrastructure improvements.
“Now that this project is complete, residents have a drainage system that will help reduce flooding at the MD 291/MD 313 intersection as well as beautiful new sidewalks providing a safe pedestrian pathway through the downtown area,” said MDOT SHA Administrator Tim Smith. “This project is another example of how MDOT SHA continues to deliver projects focused on preserving Maryland’s infrastructure.”
MDOT SHA contractor David A. Bramble Inc. performed the work. For more information about the project, click HERE.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
Motorists can dial #77 or 911 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
