Crews to Conduct Tree Trimming, Clearing Along Southbound MD 30

(October 1, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will conduct work next week to trim and clear trees along southbound MD 30 (Hanover Pike) at Mt. Gilead Road in Baltimore County to prepare for a future intersection safety project.    

The work will require temporary single lane closures and flagging operations on MD 30 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily from Monday, October 4, through Friday, October 8. The tree operation will be complete Friday afternoon, weather permitting.   

MDOT SHA is trimming and clearing trees where needed for utility line relocation work in advance of a future project to improve safety at the intersection. The intersection project will include highway widening to add a left-turn lane from northbound MD 30 to Mt. Gilead Road and other safety enhancements. The project is scheduled to begin in early 2022.   

MDOT SHA’s contractor Concrete General Inc. of Pasadena will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists and bicyclists of the work zone.   

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
