​Daytime Work will Improve Nearly One Mile of Roadway

(August 10, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform work next week to upgrade portions of guardrail along MD 108 (Old Annapolis Road) in Howard County. Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, August 16, crews will work between Centre Park Drive and Barrington Court, including ramps at eastbound MD 100. Crews will work 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays until the project’s expected completion by August 20.    

Crews will remove existing guardrail and install new guardrail meeting current Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) standards set by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

Work will be performed along the roadway shoulder. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Guardrails Etc. Inc., will use cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and flagging operation. There will also be truck-mounted signage in the work zone to protect crews and motorists.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.
