​Overnight Lane Closures on MD 24 Continue Through Early October

(August 9, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has begun a project to improve the roadway surface of MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) in Bel Air, Harford County. Crews started the $1.5 million project to patch, mill and resurface a section of MD 24 last week.   

Temporary overnight single lane closures along MD 24 between MacPhail Road and US 1 Bel Air Bypass are required with this project. Crews will work from 8 p.m. nightly, Sundays through Thursdays, to 5 a.m. the next day. The project is expected to be completed by early October, weather permitting.   

MDOT SHA advises motorists who use MD 24 to plan ahead for extra travel time at night and to look ahead for crews and equipment moving through the work zone. MDOT SHA contractor Gray and Son Inc. of Timonium is performing the work. 

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.
