Overnight Work Includes Pothole Repairs on I-270 Exit Ramps
(August 9, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin work Monday, August 23 on a project improving the roadway surface of MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) in the Urbana area of Frederick County.
The work was postponed from August 11.
Starting at 8 p.m., crews will work overnight to repair potholes between MD 355 (Urbana Pike) and Thurston Road. The project includes work on the MD 80 ramps at northbound I-270. Crews will continue to work overnight, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, until the project’s expected completion in October.
During the project duration, motorists can expect single lane closures with a flagging operation. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Charles J. Miller LLC, will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and lane closures.
The MD 80 ramps at northbound I-270 will be closed when crews work at those locations. During those periods, motorists on northbound I-270 will be directed to the Jefferson Street exit, then onto southbound I-270 to the MD 80 exit. Travelers on MD 80 going to northbound I-270 will be directed to southbound I-270, the MD 109 (Old Hundred Road) exit and then the ramp for northbound I-270.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
