Overnight Work Includes New Driving Surface on Two Miles of Roadway
(July 23, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin work next week to improve the roadway surface on MD 26 (Liberty Road) between Calvert Way and Monroe Avenue in the Eldersburg area of Carroll County.
On Sunday, July 25, crews will begin patching MD 26. They also will remove existing pavement and place a new asphalt surface to provide a smoother drive on this two-mile span. Work will be performed overnight, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Sundays through Fridays. Completion is expected in October.
Motorists can expect single lane closures while the work is taking place. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Charles J. Miller LLC, will use electronic board signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and lane closures.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
