Towson Row Work Expected Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30; Additional Overnight Closures Expected Week of August 9
(July 23, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is advising motorists that a one-block section of MD 45 (York Road) in the Towson area of Baltimore County will be closed overnight next week to accommodate a contractor working on construction of a student housing project.
Beginning Monday, July 26, the 300 block of York Road will close nightly at 9 p.m. between Towsontown Boulevard and Chesapeake Avenue and reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. The work is expected to complete by Friday, July 30, weather permitting.
Additional overnight work is expected to occur Monday, August 9, through Thursday, August 12, following the same schedule. These closures will allow a contractor to work on the frontage of the new Towson Row student housing development.
During the closures, motorists traveling within downtown Towson will be redirected to a detour route including Chesapeake Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Towsontown Boulevard and Washington Avenue. Motorists traveling between south of Towson University to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) can use the Towson Bypass (W. Burke Avenue/Bosley Avenue) west of Towson to avoid the local detour area. Portable variable message signs and detour signs will guide drivers through the detour route while York Road is closed.
Customers with questions about the York Road overnight detours may contact the MDOT SHA District 4 Office at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.
