(June 29, 2021) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is improving drainage on MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) near Rosemary Lane in Howard County. On Sunday, crews began installing new drainage pipes under MD 32 to improve stormwater management in the area. Crews will continue to work overnight, 8:30 p.m. through 5 a.m. the next day until expected completion on Friday, July 2.

Motorists can expect single lane closures and a flagging operation on four miles of MD 32 from north of the Triadelphia Road bridge to MD 144 (Frederick Road).

The work is part of the $127 million MD 32 Phase II widening project that began in 2019 and is expected to be complete in 2022. The project will construct an additional travel lane in both directions of MD 32 between Linden Church Road and the I-70 ramps. Learn more about the project HERE.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Stranded motorists can use their mobile device to dial #77 or 911 for roadside assistance.
