US 29 sign
(June 24, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will improve safety on the southbound US 29 (Columbia Pike) bridge over the Patuxent River this weekend. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, June 25, crews will install new roadway stripes and pavement markers on southbound US 29 between Old Columbia Road and Dustin Road. The work is expected to be complete by noon on Sunday, June 27, weather permitting.
Crews will remove the existing lines and roadway markers and install new ones on one lane, then switch to the other lane of southbound US 29. Motorists can expect single lane closures through the weekend so crews can safely complete the work. Electronic message boards, signs and cones will be in place to alert motorists ahead of the lane closure.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Stranded motorists can dial #77 or 911 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
