I-695 sign
(June 21, 2021) - Tomorrow night starting at 8 p.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin installing traffic-counting devices on the southwest outer loop of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) between US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144. The devices will allow MDOT SHA to count and monitor traffic in the area. Crews will work overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until expected completion Friday morning.
During the work, motorists can expect lane closures on the I-695 Outer Loop. Crews will close one lane at 8 p.m. and two additional lanes at 10 p.m.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
