(March 25, 2021) -- The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will relocate the work zone barrier on the westbound I-70 bridge within Patapsco Valley State Park on Monday, March 29.

Starting at 7 p.m., crews will begin moving the barrier on the bridge over the Patapsco River and CSX Transportation rail line. The work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, weather permitting. Motorists can expect single lane closures while the work is taking place.

This move is part of MDOT SHA’s $5 million project to rehabilitate the side walls of the  I-70 bridges. Crews have completed work on the left side of westbound I-70 and need to move the work zone barrier to begin work on the right side.  Learn more about the project HERE.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
