(February 2, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) estimates repairs to the MD 161 Bridge over Deer Creek in Harford County will be completed this week. All travelers are advised to use detours until the damage caused by a truck crash Monday can be repaired.
MDOT SHA bridge engineers have assessed the bridge and determined that the crash damaged bridge parapets on both sides. While repairs are being made, MDOT SHA and contractor crews will install temporary concrete barriers on both sides of the bridge. The bridge will be closed to all traffic until the temporary concrete barrier installation is complete on Friday.
Currently, through traffic on MD 161 between US 1 (Conowingo Road) and MD 155 (Level Road) is being detoured using US 1, MD 136 (Priestford Road) and MD 155. The roadway is open to local traffic only on either side of the bridge.
