(January 27, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will install an overhead sign structure on I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Catonsville on Wednesday, February 3 and Thursday, February 4. The work, originally scheduled for January 28, was postponed due to high winds.
Starting at 7 p.m. both nights, motorists can expect double lane closures and intermittent traffic stops on the Inner and Outer Loops of I-695 until 5 a.m. the next day. The work is part of the $68 million project to widen I-695 southbound Outer Loop between US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road). Learn more about the project HERE.
MDOT SHA contractor Tutor Perini of New Rochelle, NY, will be working on I-695 Inner Loop between Ingleside Avenue and US 40. Next Thursday, Feb. 4, crews will be working on I-695 Outer Loop just south of the MD 144 bridge over I-695.
Each night, single lane closures will start in the designated work areas at 7 p.m., followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. Intermittent traffic stops of up to 15 minutes will be conducted as needed, between midnight and 5 a.m.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
