(November 20, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin removing the traffic split on I-83 north (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) at Padonia Road on Sunday night, November 22.

Starting at 8 p.m., crews will implement single and double lane closures through 5 a.m. the next morning. These closures will be in effect Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights so crews can relocate construction barriers, re-mark the pavement and remove the traffic split currently in effect.

By 5 a.m. Wednesday, all three through lanes of I-83 north will be open to traffic. Learn more about the project HERE.

If there is inclement weather Sunday night, the overnight traffic lane shift will be rescheduled to 8 p.m. on the next three possible weeknights after the Thanksgiving holiday.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
